NBR in the Community: Connecting at the Urban League Resource Fair

Mental health research works best when it starts with real conversations, which is exactly what brought Neuro-Behavioral Clinical Research (NBR) to the Greater Stark County Urban League's recent resource fair.

Representing NBR at the event was Courtney, who spent the day connecting with two very different, and equally important, groups of people. On one side were community members curious about what clinical research participation actually looks like: what it means to take part in a study, who's eligible, and how it could fit into their own mental health journey. On the other were local service providers meeting NBR for the first time, many of whom didn't realize a psychiatric research clinic with this kind of program existed right in North Canton.

That combination is what made the day stand out. A resource fair like this doesn't just open the door to potential participants, it opens the door to the people and organizations who support them every day. New referral relationships with social services providers mean more people in our community can be connected to research opportunities when the timing is right for them, not just when they happen to search for it online.

To keep spirits high (and say thank you for stopping by), NBR gave away a $50 gift card over the course of the event, a small gesture that sparked plenty of great conversations at the table.

It was a strong showing for the NBR team, and a good reminder that some of the most valuable connections don't happen through a screen. We're grateful to the Greater Stark County Urban League for hosting, and we're looking forward to more days like this one.
